KOKAWOOD

[ABOUT]

Kokawood is a creative workshop of the Strynadiuk family, where wooden jewelry with meaning and the spirit of the Carpathians is handcrafted.

[TASK]

The task was to redesign the packaging.

While researching the target audience, I realized that people want to touch ancient Ukrainian traditions and have a connection with ancient sacred Hutsul symbols through kokawood wooden pieces, which became the basis of the concept.

In the project, I worked with texture, form, and graphic elements to create a cohesive and tactile experience of interaction with the product.

My solution was to create a Hutsul chest with carving (embossing) as a continuation of the author’s products, making the interaction with kokawood more pleasant.

[IDEA]

I aimed to recreate a cohesive, complete, and symmetrical composition characteristic of dry Hutsul wood carving.

At the center of the composition is a rosette — a traditional Hutsul ornamental motif symbolizing the sun and the cycle of life, which is also the workshop’s logo.
